COPD is still the 3rd leading cause of death in the world. Risk factors such as smoking and continuous exposure to air pollution are the causes of COPD. In diagnosing COPD, in addition to a history of respiratory symptoms and physical examination, a spirometry examination is needed to assess lung function capacity. However, this examination is not always available in health care facilities. Peak flow metric, which is used to assess lung capacity at maximal expiration, can be a cheap and easy-to-implement alternative. Early detection of COPD with peak flow metric will be beneficial for the community to know their lung function capacity earlier, so that people pay more attention to their lung health. Therefore, early detection of airway obstruction disorders in the community is needed through this community service activity. About 200 participants were given counseling about COPD and COPD detection was carried out using a peak flow metric tool. Of the 200 participants, 38% were detected to have airway obstruction with peak flow metric results <80%. This will be the basis for the community to check themselves to the health facility for spirometry examination, and increase public awareness to maintain lung health.
2024-07-18T17:47:22+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed2.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/148 Penyuluhan masyarakat dalam upaya peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai malaria dan nyamuk vektor malaria serta screening dini malaria di Kelurahan Kemelak RT 01 Kabupaten Baturaja 2024-07-21T08:32:13+00:00 Dalilah Azhari dalilah@fk.unsri.ac.id Susilawati Susilawati susilwt78@gmail.com Dwi Handayani dwih.dr@gmail.com Gita Dwi Prasasty gitadwiprasasty@fk.unsri.ac.id Ella Amalia ellaamalia@fk.unsri.ac.id Pariyana Pariyana pariana@fk.unsri.ac.id Elzabet Theresy dwih.dr@gmail.com Andi Irnanda dwih.dr@gmail.com
Malaria is caused by a parasite of the genus Plasmodium that is transmitted to humans through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito. Indonesia is the second highest ranked region in Asia with 214 regencies/cities in Indonesia that are still malaria endemic spread from Sumatra to Papua. Knowledge is one of the important components in preventing malaria transmission. The purpose of this service was to assist and screen for malaria in the context of early detection of malaria in the community and to increase public knowledge about malaria and malaria mosquito vectors. Activities were carried out by providing pretests followed by education and socialization of malaria and early screening of malaria cases with Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) examination. Education and socialization events were held at RT 01 Kemelak Baturaja using LCD projector media as well as posters and pamphlets. A total of 83 people attended the counseling event consisting of 37 men and 46 women and 50 people carried out early detection of malaria RDT examination. Pretest results obtained knowledge that was still lacking in knowledge of malaria and malaria vectors by 78% and good knowledge by 22%. There was an increase in knowledge in the posttest held after counseling and education where lack of knowledge was 44% and good knowledge to 56%. On examination with RDT found no positive cases of malaria. Education and socialization in the community about the symptoms of malaria and its vectors can increase awareness of the disease and prevent malaria vector mosquito bites. Therefore, education and assistance are an important part of efforts to prevent and reduce cases that support malaria elimination.
2024-07-19T04:27:01+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed2.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/136 Psikoedukasi kesehatan mental keluarga pada wanita dewasa di Kota Prabumulih 2024-07-21T08:32:13+00:00 Amalia Juniarly amaliajuniarly@fk.unsri.ac.id Sayang Ajeng Mardhiyah amaliajuniarly@fk.unsri.ac.id Ayu Purnamasari amaliajuniarly@fk.unsri.ac.id Rachmawati Rachmawati amaliajuniarly@fk.unsri.ac.id
Numerous studies have shown that social relationships, especially family relationships, can have both long and short term effects on a person's mental health. This activity was carried out using lectures / counseling method. Based on the calculation results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, the Z value obtained is -2.873 with p = 0.004 (p <0.05), so the hypothesis decision is to accept H1 or which means there is a significant difference in mental health knowledge between groups pre-test and post-test. There were 7 participants who scored post-test < pre-test, 25 participants who scored post-test > pre-test and 38 respondents who scored post-test = pre-test. Uncontrolled use of antibiotics will trigger antibiotic resistance. With the incidence of antibiotic resistance, the potential of antibiotics will be reduced in treating infections and diseases in humans, animals and plants. Community service activities aim to provide knowledge to the community about antibiotics, how to use antibiotics wisely, and introduction to the concept of antibiotic resistance. The activities carried out were in the form of empowerment in the form of counseling for the community and assistance in the form of training for groups of prospective antibiotic wise cadres in the Siring Agung Village area. The results of this activity were obtained to increase the insight and knowledge of the community and health cadres about Antibiotic Wisdom, especially the use of antibiotics correctly, how to get them, how to follow up on antibiotic drug waste if it remains. In addition, the community and cadres also have the skills to wash hands properly and correctly using running water and soap independently to prevent transmission of infectious diseases. Furthermore, it is hoped that continuous service activities with similar themes at different layers or levels of society can be carried out in order for the community to know the importance of the principle of using antibiotics wisely so that the incidence of antibiotic drug resistance can be suppressed to increase.
2024-07-20T01:08:11+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed2.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/157 Peran peer educator dalam upaya peningkatan imunitas tubuh remajadi masa pandemi COVID melalui penyuluhan gizi seimbang 2024-07-21T08:32:13+00:00 Fatmalina Febry fatmalina_FKMunsri@yahoo.com Asmaripa Ainy fatmalina@fkm.unsri.ac.id Fenny Etrawati fatmalina@fkm.unsri.ac.id
Implementation of Balanced Nutrition is critical to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
